Group Games

Overview

Theory games are one of the most popular elements of private lessons. However, games are certainly more fun when playing with other students and not just me! The group games in these sessions will review basics for rhythm, note reading, and vocabulary.

Level Required

As a minimum, students must be at or above page 44 of Alfred Premier 1A and page 44 of Music for Little Mozarts Level 2.

Materials

Not much, just their instrument as well as some scratch paper and pencil for notes if necessary.

Schedule

Tuesdays at 12 pm

Week 1: June 1st
Board games - students will have individual pieces on various virtual board games and take turns answering questions about notes, rhythm, and vocab to earn a roll.

Week 2: June 8th
Jeopardy - students will be split into two teams to answer questions in a Jeopardy format.
Week 3: June 15th
Escape room - students work together to solve themed puzzles to make it out in time!
Week 4: June 22nd
Teacher Twister - students on two teams take turns calling out colors for me to put a hand/foot on on my musical Twister mat. If they can name what I landed on, then they get a point.
Piano Race - students race from one end of my piano to the other by measuring whole and half steps and identifying sharps and flats.
